
Sylvia is a Psychologist, accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. In 2008, she also gained accreditation within the BABCP as a Trainer in CBT. She is the founder of the International Institute for Cognitive Therapy in the UK. The Institute has been offering CBT training on a range of topics related to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for the past three years. Her courses have been consistently ranked as “excellent” by nearly all 200 students who completed the CBT training programmes during those years.
Sylvia has more than 15 years of experience in organising and delivering CBT training in Europe and the USA for a variety of academic institutions and private organisations. She worked as a lecturer at the University of Ulster for several years. Her training style is dynamic, challenging and entertaining.
Silvia trained at University of Valencia (Spain) in which she obtained her BSc. Hons. Degree in Psychology in 1991. She holds a Masters degree in Counselling & Guidance and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management, both gained at University of Ulster (UK).
She was the former founder of the International Trauma Institute, together with the renowned PTSD and trauma expert, Dr. Mervin R. Smucker, offering training on PTSD and related conditions to mental health professionals all over the world.
Sylvia is also a regular presenter at International Conferences. Her main interests are Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive disorder (OCD), Panic disorder and relationship dissolution. She is the main presenter of the International Institute for Cognitive Therapy for the Certificate and Diploma in CBT training programmes.
